We are creating the Nuovo Abitare Foundation, to explore the rituals of the new forms of living which can arise when we form new alliances with data and computation (for example: AI), to establish more just and inclusive, sustainable and diverse relationships between human beings, the biosphere, the environment, institutions and organizations.

Cos’è il Nuovo Abitare?
Il Nuovo Abitare è quella condizione in cui vige una nuova cosmologia, in cui gli esseri umani non sono al centro, ma parte di una rete dinamica di attori e agenti differenti: umani, non umani, computazionali, con personalità giuridica, piante, animali, attori complessi come boschi, foreste, mari.
In questo nuovo abitare i dati – che non sono più “quelli di una volta”, non sono solo “da contare”, ma sono importanti perché hanno una forma – e la computazione – che ci aiuta a vedere le forme dei dati – hanno un ruolo molto importante.
Dato il carattere globalizzato del mondo in cui ci troviamo, i nostri sensi non bastano più a comprendere ciò che ci circonda. I processi complessi in cui siamo immersi – come l’economia, il cambiamento climatico, l’accesso alle risorse, lla salute e tanti altri – si possono solo comprendere attraverso enormi quantità e qualità di dati, con cui solo gli agenti computazionali hanno la capacità di avere a che fare.
Servono nuove rapporti e nuove alleanze, per portare queste nuove dimensioni nei domini del sensatile.

What is Nuovo Abitare?
Nuovo Abitare is the condition of a new cosmology, where human beings are not at the center, but part of a dynamic network of actors and agents of different types: human, non human, computational, legal, plants, animals and complex actors like forests and seas.
In this nuovo abitare, data are not what “they used to be”. They cannot just be “counted”: their importance lies in the possibility to unveil the forms and patterns they describe. Computation can help us see the patterns in data. Both have a very important role.
In our globalized world our senses are not sufficient anymore to understand our reality. In fact, large parts of the phenomena around us – such as economy, climate change, access to resources, health and many others – can be only comprehended through large quantities and qualities of data, and only computation can help us access it.
New relationships and alliances are needed, to bring these new dimensions to the realms of senseability.
